February 28th – Motivation Hurdles

Right now, I'm really struggling to muster up any motivation or enthusiasm for this project. Even though I'm enjoying the workshops with the Female Boss program, they're not translating into the energy I need to dive into the theory work for this class. It's like I'm hitting a wall. I know I've got a ton to do for my own development, and honestly, I think I might have bitten off more than I can chew.

Every time I look at my to-do list, it feels like it's just getting longer and longer, and I'm not making any real progress. I'm stuck in this rut of zero motivation, and I have no idea how to shake it off. It's frustrating because I used to be really passionate about this project, but now it's like I've lost that spark.

I'm thinking maybe I need to step back for a bit. Take a breather, you know? Maybe read a book or just chill out for a while. I'm hoping that some time away from it all will help me refocus and rediscover that passion I once had.

Experience

I am currently in my development stage of my project. I have booked a location and still need to decide on a model. I have also been working on the skills and knowledge that I will need in order to do the project. I have been experimenting with different styles of videos and looking at various trends. I have been posting regularly on my social media pages and I have made sure to include all of this in my development. I have been adding to my initial research and adding apon it.

Reflection

Though I have been learning a lot about video editing, sound editing, and marketing I have been feeling sort of stuck in a rut with this project currently. I am just feeling really overwhelmed with everything at the moment. Trying to find the time to add everything to my website and then actually do the physical things. I think am feeling this way, as I give myself big tasks and too many to do, all at the same time. I am struggling to find the balance with everything, especially with all the deadlines coming up. In terms of everything else, I have been learning a lot through the #FemaleBoss program, this past week we looked at Idea Generation and development. I loved the class; we learned about the SCAMPER model that is used to create and develop creative ideas. I find that I have a lot of these ideas myself, but I never knew that there were models we could use to help creative entrepreneurs develop their ideas into businesses. I always leave the workshops feeling inspired. I have also been networking with the others who are in the program and who all come from various backgrounds. So, I have been working on my communication and networking skills by doing so.

Action

For next week I will focus on just getting a bunch of smaller tasks done so I'm not feeling as overwhelmed with everything. So just updating my blog, and my timesheet, and doing some development. I am also going to be filming practices over the next couple of weeks to help develop my interview skills.

Driscoll's Model of Reflection

What's been happening?

This past week I have been working on the development of my projects. I have been uploading to my social media and I have done my first practice run on my sister Stephanie at home. The aim was to practice interviewing someone and get comfortable in front of the camera. I have also started the Female Boss program this week which was fantastic. I have written a whole reflection piece on it on the Female Boss page.

What have I been learning?

Video editing is not for the faint of heart. it is really difficult to do. Well, that has been my experience. I found myself getting frustrated with the fact that I was so limited in my skills, I underestimated how difficult it would be to cut clips, add effects, and add music and sounds. It was a whole new learning curve. I had expected that I would need to learn something, just not as much as I had initially planned. another thing is when I make a video just by myself I am fine talking to the camera, but as soon as someone else is there watching me, I begin to stutter and I get nervous. All of a sudden, there was all this pressure and I was freezing and finding it difficult to find the words to say.

What's next?

I am hoping with more practice I will lose my nervousness when speaking in front of others. I am going to be looking at different interview styles and identifying which one would be best for me to use when filming my prototype. I am also going to be looking at workshops and videos on editing so that I can improve my knowledge and understanding of what to do when it comes to editing my social media content. I am planning to stay consistent with posting on my social media and hopefully grow my following and interact with more brands. I have my second working shop this week with the Female Boss program and will update the page with a reflection of everything that we have been doing.
