"This simple framework was developed by Jasper (2013) and is based on building understanding from experience. The key component is that of action, as this feeds learning through reflection forward into future experiences"

Robinson, J. (2023) In-depth explanation of era cycle of reflection writing, Crowjack. Available at: https://crowjack.com/blog/strategy/reflection-models/era-cycle (Accessed: 23 January 2024).

This past week I have received the feedback that I have to use more academic references and references to reflective writing models. At first, I was surprised by this as I read through the reading list and researched the various models that we can use, so I thought I was writing reflectively, but alas I have been informed that my writing is beginning to be more descriptive as opposed to reflective. Now I have decided to look back on my writing so far and see in what areas I can improve in. I have realised that at times I do go off-topic and could go into further detail about what I am specifically learning from each experience. In this case, I guess I could reflect on the fact that it doesn't matter if you read all the books and do all the research if you do not show how you are using that information and referencing it, you will fail to show that you have any knowledge and understanding of what is being asked of you. So I am now going to be making a conscious effort to reference the various models of reflective writing each week in my blog posts as well as in my development. I like to watch YouTube videos as well as read journal articles, listen to podcasts, and use imagery to help me understand the theories and models, so I will make sure to add these to more of my blogs as well as just reference the books. Today for example I have used the ERA model to write this blog and have included a photo to show what that is and the steps that you follow.

I shall be doing another blog post this week at some point about where I am at with my project, how I am feeling, and what my next steps are.

So I am back from my 4 weeks holiday. It was great to have some time off and be able to relax and rejuvenate. Even though I was on holiday I was still working on stuff for this class. I have been talking a lot with my cinematographer Stephanie Douglas. We have been discussing the location where I can film and record. She has suggested hiring the film studio at Fife College as well as the equipment from the department. As she is still a student at Fife College she can hire all these things out for free. She also knows people who can record and edit the podcast side of things. I have finished doing my planning for the now and I am now onto the developing stage. Over the holidays I signed myself up for the Female Boss workshop which I will be starting on the 25th of January. There will be 8 sessions, 1 per week and each one will focus on a different subject. I will be adding my reflection and what I have learned from each workshop to my Development page. I have also started posting more frequently on my social media again. For some time there I just let them slide, I felt a lack of passion to create for some time their after I had finished my HND, like at creative flow had just stopped flowing. But alas I have set myself some goals for this class as well as for the rest of the year and as it is a new year I have made of list of some goals or you could say New Years Resolutions below - I also just love a list.

  • Continue with my development at a creative

  • Pass this course!

  • Do well in my presentation.

  • Post more on social media

  • Find my creative flow again

This week we went to Queen Margaret University. Though we are all QMU students we don't study on the campus. It was great to go a long and see what the campus had to offer. The place wad amazing!!! I was rather jealous that these students got to attend the campus all year round. Though we are welcome there we are based at Stenton Campus in Glenrothes. So not exactly the Ritz but it gets the job done. I really loved how relaxed the atmosphere was and all the space available foe people to work in. It was just a really nice place. For my work this week I have been working on finishing my research and starting my planning for my project. Right now I just feel a bit overwhelmed with everything. There is just so much to do all the time and I feel like I never get any satisfaction from completing any work, as there is always something else to do right after. I am enjoying looking in to what podcasts going is and how to create it. I'm confident I can get everything done on time just stressed that what I'm doing is all wrong. Hopefully by this time next week I shall have more work done and have more of a positive mindset.
